TIGARD, Ore. -- Two L.A.-area men were arrested Friday for allegedly making $100,000 in illegal purchases using counterfeit gift cards, police said.
According to Tigard police, Xunhai Zheng, 33, and Jin Hua Lin, 22, were spotted Wednesday by security guards as they allegedly made fraudulent purchases at the Nordstrom at Washington Square Mall.
Beaverton and Tigard police then followed the suspects as they went on to shop at Macy's at The Streets of Tanasbourne in Hillsboro, police said. The two were finally arrested at a hotel in Northwest Portland.
Police believe the two men are connected to other fraudulent purchases reported by other retailers across the Portland Metro. Police suspect the two may have racked up $30,000 worth of purchases on their Wednesday shopping spree in Washington County alone. Tigard detectives continue to investigate.
