PORTLAND – A suspect has been detained after a pipe bomb scare at Oregon Health & Science University Sunday morning.
Officers responded to OHSU around 10:45 a.m. to help hospital security staff with a person who they said may have an explosive device, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson of Portland police.
Police detained the suspect around noon and the Explosives Device Unit said the device was not a bomb and posed no risk to the public.
Parts of OHSU and US Veteran’s Highway were blocked during the incident. Access to the hospital was reopened Sunday afternoon.
