PORTLAND -- A suspect is loose who opened fire on a group of people, hitting a teenager in a Southeast Portland Friday, police said.
Just before 7 p.m., the 17-year-old boy was standing with three other people on the corner of Southeast 119th Avenue and Southeast Oak Street when a car pulled up next to them. A passenger then got out and opened fire on the group, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
The gunman jumped back into the car, which quickly sped away, Simpson said.
Officers swarmed to the scene and canvassed the neighborhood but didn’t find a suspect. Police said the shooting was gang-related.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Early Saturday morning, another man was hit in a drive-by shooting just ten blocks away from Friday's incident. Police did not say if the shootings were related.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call police at 502-823-3333.
