PORTLAND – A store clerk is recovering from getting stabbed in the chest during a robbery at the Stop 'N Save Market in Southeast Portland Monday.

The clerk, 54-year-old Heeson Lee, said a man came behind the counter and slashed her with a knife around 8 a.m., at the store located at 7720 Southeast Foster Road.

She managed to run away from the attacker and at first, he chased her outside. The suspect eventually fled on foot, running southbound on SE 77th Avenue.

Officers canvassing the area located a suspect and captured him.

Jerome Michael Bond, 35, was arrested for assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing. Officers said he appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson with the Portland Police Bureau.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, he said.
