PORTLAND – Lots of folks in the Portland Metro area were planning on traveling during Labor Day Weekend and the weather looked to be cooperating for a beautiful holiday, said KGW meteorologist Nick Allard.
Travel for Labor Day Weekend was expected to be up 6 percent from last year. Roads were clear Friday morning, but traffic was expected to become heavy on highways Friday afternoon.
Part of the incentive to travel includes lower gas prices, which were averaging just over $3.70 in Oregon, down from around $4 last year, according to AAA.
The weather should be sunny most of the weekend, said Allard. Friday’s morning clouds should clear by the afternoon, ushering in temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s around Portland.
Saturday and Sunday should remain in the 80s. Monday could see a few showers, but skies should be partly sunny overall.
