PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A new report ranks Benton County as the healthiest county in Oregon. The national report by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation ranks counties in every state.
The report used five measures to assess the level of overall health for Oregon counties, including the rate of death before age 75 and the rate of low birth weight babies.
The director of Oregon Public Health, Dr. Mel Kohn, says the report is a call to action for many counties.
Jefferson County ranked at the bottom in Oregon.
As for Washington, the study ranked Clark County 8th among that state's 39 counties.
