BATTLE GROUND, Wash. -- Some employees at the Battle Ground Goodwill who are also high school seniors are helping other students get ready for the prom.

“We have high end brands at really good prices,” explained Hannah Bennett.

Prom dresses at the Goodwill store range in price from about $6.99 to $14.99. Brands include BCGB, Ann Taylor and there are even new gowns from department stores like Saks.

“It’s tax time so we have stores making donations and bridal shops. We get apparel by the truckload,” explained Goodwill Public Relations Manager Dale Emanuel.

Hannah put together an ensemble with a gown and shoes that would retail for more than $300.  At the Goodwill, it cost a whopping $25.

Her date, Ryan Roberts, couldn’t find a tuxedo but put together a $32 outfit that included a Nordstrom shirt, Claiborne vest and Kenneth Cole pants which would have retailed for more than $300.

He even found shoes. “I saw they were shiny and I knew those were the ones,” laughed Roberts.

Emanuel suggests for the best prom wear, consider where the Goodwill is located, too.

“Go to stores in parts of town like Northwest Portland where you know evening wear is worn often. The stores will be more likely to get those items donated,” he explained.
