TIGARD -- The stray pig corralled by Tigard police on Wednesday has been reunited with its owner after it was taken to the Bonnie L. Hays Animal Shelter.
The pot-bellied pig was a pet named Pumbaa, according to shelter manager Debbie Wood.
“The pig apparently had a pet-sitter, and got away from his temporary care taker,” Wood said. “We’re very happy that the pig had a happy resolution, and were glad to keep him safe and sound until his owner came for him.”
A different pig was brought to the shelter in March and Wood said the shelter never thought it would get another.
That pig was adopted by a Scio animal sanctuary. She's hoping the owner of the second comes forward.
“Our first goal is to reunite this pig with his people. If no one claims the pig, then we would look for a placement for him,” she said. “In this case, we believe owners are probably looking for him – and we want them to have their pet back.”
