VANCOUVER -- Hundreds of Clark County children have fallen ill in the last month with the stomach flu -- or gastroenteritis.

Three schools have been at the center of the illnesses, Hockinson Elementary School in Brush Prairie and at Columbia Valley Elementary and Walnut Grove Elementary in Vancouver.

Spokeswoman Pat Mattison told The Columbian an extra cleaning crew worked over the weekend at Walnut Grove the school because of last week's outbreak. Some 133 students or their siblings were sick with vomiting and nausea.

Parents should make certain that their kids wash their hands properly and keep them home if they suffer the symptoms.
