PORTLAND – Social media may help solve a smash-and-grab burglary at a Southeast Portland business.

People have been posting pictures of the thief, taken from surveillance video, on Facebook and Twitter.

The suspect threw a brick into the window of Red Castle Games around 2:15 a.m., Monday and then climbed inside the business and burglarized it. The store is located at 6406 Southeast Foster Road.

Surveillance video shows the man shoving merchandise into two backpacks. He was wearing a light-colored sweatshirt with a distinctive design, tennis shoes, and jeans. His head can also be seen briefly, before he puts on a ski mask.

Store owners said he didn't touch the cash register or even the collectible game cards they sell. He went straight for a shelf of figurines worth around $60 to $80 each. All in all, the theif got away with $8,000 in figurines, according to the owner.  He believe the thief had been in before because he was picking and choosing which figurines to steal.

He didn’t seem to realize the store had a silent alarm, because he spent nearly 10 minutes inside before fleeing. Police arrived about 20 minutes later.

Red Castle sells well-known board games but specializes in long-form games like World of Warcraft or Dungeons and Dragons, even holding tournaments and live play until midnight.
