PORTLAND – A man fired several shots in the air after getting in a fight with a convenience store clerk in North Portland Saturday night, police said.

The fight started just before 9 p.m. when the clerk of the Lucky Mart at 5287 North Lombard Street confronted a woman who allegedly shoplifted from the store before, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.

The clerk told police that when he confronted the woman, she began throwing things in the store. During the altercation, a TV was knocked down on the clerk’s infant son, Simpson said.

The boy was not injured and the woman quickly left the store.

That’s when a man showed up and said he was the woman’s brother. The clerk and the suspect then got into a fight that ended with the man running down Lombard Street firing shots, Simpson said.

Police did not find any suspects and are asking anyone with information to call police.
