PORTLAND – A man armed with a shotgun robbed two east Portland businesses early Saturday morning, police said.
The first robbery happened just after midnight at Charlie’s Teriyaki at 14800 Southeast Powell Boulevard, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
The armed man entered the restaurant, demanded money and took off walking westbound on 148th Avenue, witnesses told police.
Then, about an hour later, a man with a shotgun entered the Fire Escape Bar and Grill at 9004 Northeast Sandy Boulevard and robbed the place, witnesses told police.
After searching the area, police did not locate anyone matching the suspect’s description, Simpson said.
The suspect was described as an African American man in his mid 30s with facial hair, 6-feet tall, with a medium build and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Police believe the robberies are related. Anyone with information about the robberies was asked to call police at 503-823-0405.
