PORTLAND – Police arrested a suspect Friday in a string of hotel robberies around Oregon and Washington.
A Portland police tactical operations team pulled over 40-year-old Ernest Dean at North Lombard Street and North Delaware Avenue after getting information from law enforcement agencies around the state and the FBI, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
Dean was wanted for the Sept. 5 robbery of the Silver Cloud Inn in Northwest Portland along with the La Quinta in Wilsonville the next day.

Similar robberies continued around Gresham, Hood River, Cannon Beach, Albany and Newport, along with a robbery in Woodland, Wash.
The suspect would rob the hotels at gunpoint and claim to have a bomb before tying up the clerks and taking off with cash, Simpson said.
Cannon Beach police cracked the case leading to Dean as a person of interest. Multiple agencies then coordinated and he was tracked back to Portland.
Dean was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on first-degree robbery charges.
