PORTLAND – A semi-truck went up in flames on Interstate 5 south of the Marquam Bridge in Portland, may have caught fire a second time Thursday night.
It was just before 5 p.m., the tuck became fully engulfed in flames on the side of the roadway. Fire trucks sped to the scene and had the flames extinguished within minutes.
Portland Fire PIO Rich Chatman says the cause of the fire appears to be electrical. The driver reported seeing smoke coming out of the vents in the cab. He pulled over to the side of the freeway and then the cab caught fire.

The fire snarled traffic during the evening commute. Southbound lanes were closed as crews battled the fire. Shortly after 5 p.m. one southbound lane was opened to traffic.
There was another car fire later Thursday just before 9pm. on I-84 near 68th. A flatbed tow truck was carrying a truck, and the truck on the flatbed caught fire. Several report indicated it was the same truck from the I5 SB fire. Portland Fire is working to confirm that
