GRASS VALLEY, Ore. – A big-rig carrying apples crashed early Sunday morning on Highway 97 south of the town of Grass Valley.
Just before 5:30 a.m., 47-year-old Juan Jimenez drove onto the shoulder of the highway while negotiating a curve. He then reportedly over-corrected and the truck and trailer rolled off the highway, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.
Jimenez got out or the crushed cabin of the truck and was later taken to a hospital in The Dalles with non-life-threatening injuries, Hastings said.
Northbound traffic on the highway was affected while crews cleaned up the mess. Recovered, unaffected apples will be donated to a local charity.
