PORTLAND – Seaside evacuees gathered at a local elementary school to ride out the tsunami warning Friday.
Parents, kids and dogs started gathering at Seaside Heights Elementary around 3:30 a.m. They had blankets and other supplies, and were prepared to stick it out for a while if necessary.
Throughout the morning they could see dozens and dozens of vehicles outside, lining up at gas stations to get fuel for cars, trucks, and generators.
At about 7:25 a.m. fire trucks and emergency vehicles dropped off last minute evacuees.
Folks from a Seaside retirement community (pictured) made up the majority of those who remained at the school just after 9:30 a.m.
