SALEM -- A Salem woman pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to raping her friend's 12-year-old son.

In Tuesday's settlement hearing, Sarah Beth Hopkins, 35, pleaded guilty to three charges of rape and two for sodomy in Marion County court.

More: Bail $1M for Salem woman accused of raping boy

The victim told his mother last August that he and Hopkins were sexually active for eight months and had sex with her about 15 times, then the mother alerted police. The two spent time together at Hopkins' apartment and on walks, investigators said.

When Hopkins was questioned, she admitted having sex with the boy, but did not threaten him or offer anything in return for the sex, according to the probable cause statement.

Hopkins was initially facing 10 charges and her bail had been set at $1 million. Four charges were dismissed and one rape charge remains. Her sentencing was set for Jan. 29 at 11 a.m.
