SALEM -- Police have charged a girls basketball coach with sex crimes for his alleged sexual contact with a teenage girl.

Emrance Berger, 30, was charged with sodomy and sex abuse after allegations arose that he had inappropriate sexual relations with girl under the age of 16.

Berger had been both an assistant girls varsity coach and a head girls varsity coach at West Salem High School, according to the Salem Police Department.

On Wednesday, KGW also learned that Berger also works for the Department of Human Services.  He is a manager in the client maintenance unit.

Police believe that Berger may have victimized more girls. Anyone with information was asked to call detective Jeff Staples at (503)540-2351.
