SALEM – After a nine-hour search for a wanted felon in Salem Saturday, the fugitive remains at large.

On Saturday, SWAT teams were called out to assist the Marion County Sheriff’s Office after a man with several warrants out for his arrest ran away from police.

Officials blocked off Cherry Avenue NE in an industrial area, looking for the man.

They thought the suspect was finally cornered near Bark Boys at 2840 Cherry Ave NE.

To draw the suspect out, officers lobbed tear gas into brush outside of Bark Boys, but no one emerged.

Officials stopped their search around 9 p.m. The suspect remains on the loose and police said he is armed.

Bark Boys employees were kept inside during the incident for around five hours before being allowed to leave just before 5 p.m.
