PORTLAND - Police arrested the suspected getaway driver in the burglary of a Southwest Portland home Friday.

Police arrested 32-year-old Bronwynn Kauffman (pictured) early Saturday, but are still looking for other suspects.

Officers and a K-9 unit were searching around the 6400 block of Southwest Burlingame Place for the suspect that the homeowner chased away.

Wilson High School and Rieke Elementary School were put on lockdown until the end if the school day.

Police got a 9-1-1 call around noon from neighbor Anne Johnston, who said she had seen a suspicious vehicle drive past her home a few times and noticed some of her neighbors’ things inside the car. When she went outside to see what was happening, she took pictures of the car before it took off.

Then, she said a man came out of the house and tried to ride off with stolen items, on a bike that was also taken from the home.

“I started yelling at him and he dropped some of the things and we were able to get 9-1-1 and other neighbors chipped in, tried to chase him in their cars,” Johnston said.

The suspect was described as a white male, 25 years old, 6'02", thin build, black hair, wearing a black bomber jacket, blue jeans, and carrying a backpack.

The burglars got away with a couple of bikes, computers and some jewelry.
