PORTLAND – A car crashed through a fence, hit a house and ruptured a gas main Saturday in Southeast Portland.
Just before 3 p.m., the vehicle crashed in the 1500 block of Southeast 41st Avenue, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
Firefighters responded to the crash and closed all traffic on 41st Avenue from Hawthorne Boulevard to Clay Street.
No one was hurt but officers evacuated some residents close to the scene. Crews from Portland General Electric and Northwest Natural Gas responded to address the gas leak.
Investigators believe the driver’s foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. Police don’t think alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
