PORTLAND -- A hiker who reported she was lost near Yeon State Park in the Columbia Gorge has been found.

Jordan Adams, 20, of Salem, was in good condition and was escorted to safety late Thursday night, said Lt. Steve Alexander of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

She called 911 about 5 p.m. Thursday, saying she set out on a hike to Munra Point from the state park trailhead and hiked several miles but became lost.

“On the way down I just decided to jog the whole way, thinking I was making up for time and got kind of going uphill,” she said. “My legs gave out and that's when I decided to call 911, because I couldn't move and I didn't know where I was.”

She said she had no emergency supplies and tried to stay warm by sitting between two trees to block the wind.

Three search and rescue crews set out to look for her at about 9 p.m.

Alexander says temperatures were in the upper 30s and strong winds were blowing through the gorge Thursday night.
