COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. -- A Cottage Grove man is accused of murdering missing Beaverton woman Tammy Borda and abusing her corpse.

Borda's ex-boyfriend, 41-year-old David Byron Bowen, was arrested after police searched his home in the 1400 block of Birch Avenue in Cottage Grove. He faces charges of murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, according to the Lane County District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said Bowen allegedly killed Borda on or around Dec. 2.

Borda, 55, had gone to visit her family in Lane County for Thanksgiving and hadn't been seen since Dec. 2.  She had planned to return to Beaverton on Dec. 4, but never came home, her daughter said.
