PORTLAND – Security officials found 21 guns on passengers entering Portland International Airport last year, and 17 of them were loaded, according to a newspaper report.
The Oregonian reported most of the guns were detected by X-ray scanners, and passengers often said they simply forgot the guns were in their baggage.
The report also said the weapon of choice in the TSA incidents was the .38-caliber pistol. The guns are generally confiscated and the owners are issued citations.
Three other Oregon airports, in Eugene, Redmond and Medford, each reported three passengers found carrying guns in 2013, according to the article.
