SALEM -- About 2,000 gallons of untreated sewage spilled into a storm drain in the Salem area, sending cleanup crews scurrying to disinfect the area.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports a private contractor performing directional boring broke a sanitary sewer main on Thursday.
Public works crews worked through the night to contain the spill.
The spill area is served by the city of Salem's wastewater collections system.
