CLATSKANIE, Ore. -- A man wanted on rape accusations in Eastern Oregon's Grant County was arrested last week in a remote, wooded area south of Clastkanie.
Oregon State Police responded about 2:30 a.m. Friday to a report of suspicious vehicle and man on Burn Road near the community of Birkenfeld, said spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings.
The troopers found a van stuck in the mud and bicycle tracks leading away from the road along a trail. They followed the track about three miles to the end of the trail and found a man trying to hide in thick brush.
The man initially provided a fake name, then said he might be wanted for an unpaid ticket.
After providing his real name, troopers confirmed that he was Casey James Wood, 28, wanted out of Grant County on rape, sodomy and sex abuse charges.
