PORTLAND – What started out as a dry day Saturday is turning to steady rain that  tapered off Sunday morning.

At least half of an inch of rain is expected in the valley and winds may get a little breezy, says KGW Meteorologist Rod Hill.

Rain in the valley, however, means snow in the mountains. Close to six inches of fresh snow fell Friday night in the Cascades and another almost half foot fell Saturday night.

The snow level will fall Sunday from around 5,000 feet to close to 3,500 feet.

On Monday night, the coast is expected to see high winds of around 80 mph.

Monday may see a slight break in the rain, but not for long. Rod Hill says the steady rain will come back Monday night.
