PORTLAND - Donations have been pouring in since last Tuesday's heavy rainfall and a leaky roof destroyed supplies of emergency cat food housed at The Pongo Fund, Oregon’s Emergency Pet Food Bank.
The kibble, valued at thousands of dollars, had just been purchased and delivered a few weeks ago to restock emergency food supplies.
Operators said that because The Pongo Fund buys its food at huge discounts, cash donations were needed most.
Then, after the story was featured on kgw.com and KGW-TV, donors started giving contributions and as of Monday, authorities said they had enough to re-fill half of the destroyed supply.
The Pongo Fund is a volunteer-staffed, 501(c)3 non-profit public charity
