WASHINGTON -- A Portland woman will be recognized as a "Champion of Change" at the White House Thursday, officials said.

Chandra Brown will be honored for her work as president of Oregon-based small business United Streetcar, according to the White House Office of Communications.

"United Streetcar's mission is to provide modern, efficient, safe and reliable American-produced streetcars and to be a pioneering force in increasing urban transit options throughout the United States," a statement read. Brown is also the Vice President of Oregon Iron Works.

The Champions of Change program is part of Obama’s "Winning the Future" initiative. The program highlights a different issue each week and honors people for work they do to improve their communities.

Brown was among 15 people recognized in a ceremony Thursday for helping to create high-quality U.S. jobs.
