PORTLAND -- A group of hospital therapy dogs is doing more than just helping patients in Portland; they are also putting their good looks toward a great cause.

The four-legged volunteers at Providence St. Vincent Hospital were the models for a 2014 calendar. The calendars include information about the dogs as well as photos of them with patients and caregivers.

The hospital can be a scary place for some patients and the dogs’ handlers said the popular pooches help ease anxiety for many kids and adults.

They also help lighten things up for the sometimes stressed-out staff members.

Proceeds from the calendar will help fund the new Providence Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Providence Valve Center.

The 2014 calendars can be purchased at the Providence St. Vincent Hospital gift shops at 9205 SW Barnes Road.
