The rally will protest the school board’s “reckless and abrupt end to mediation,” said Portland Association of Teachers spokeswoman Gwen Sullivan.

The rally began around 4:15 p.m. near the southeast side of the Burnside Bridge.

Parents and other community members join in and show support for the teachers.
