PORTLAND – If April showers really do bring May flowers, than next month could see a record bloom – because there have been more rainy days this April than any other time in Portland history.
The rain that spattered windshields in Portland Friday morning meant that the city had received a record 25 days of rainfall this month. The last record was just one day earlier, when the rainfall statistics tied 2003's 24 days of precipitation.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service said that a "typical" April would get about 15 days of rain.
"Showers are still going in places this [Friday] morning, but they are slowly wrapping up. It will turn out to be a nice day with partly sunny skies and warmer temperatures compared to Thursday, assured KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard.
The Metro area saw a mix of hail and rain Thursday afternoon as well.
Allard said the area would likely get more rain showers on Saturday and then start to dry up on Sunday.
