PORTLAND, Ore. --One man stabbed another man with a machete in a Portland park Saturday night, in what police called an act of self-defense.
Mark McCurry, 56, was stabbed at about 8:00 p.m. in Colonel Summers Park in Southeast Portland after he got into an argument with Steaven Bruce Sutton, 57. The two men were identified as homeless, according to police.
McCurry pulled out a small pocket knife and Sutton responded by pulling out a machete. The machete was about 22 inches in length and it was seized, police said.
Police believe Sutton was acting in self-defense.
McCurry was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment. His wounds were not life-threatening.
