PORTLAND -- The suspect in a deadly shooting in NE Portland nearly one year ago was captured Tuesday in Texas.

Deandre Newman, 26, was shot to death at an apartment near 42nd and Ainsworth on October 10, 2011.

Police believe the violence was gang-related and later identified the prime suspect as 28-year-old Richard Redford.

Redford was tracked to Austin, Tex. where he was eventually arrested.  He faces two counts of murder, robbery and burglary and was arraigned in Multnomah County Court Wednesday.

After the court appearance, Newman's wife told KGW while the arrest won't bring her husband back, the family was relieved that someone was behind bars.

"We're happy he's in custody and that justice will be served, really soon," Shanice Taylor said.

Anyone with any additional information that may help investigators on this case was asked to call Detective. Kristina Coffey at (503) 823-0696.
