PORTLAND -- The first of three presidential debates between Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama takes place Wednesday in Denver. If you want to watch with fellow supporters of your favored candidate (or if you just want to heckle both of them), we have some options for you.
The Southeast Portland Obama for America office will hold a debate screening that offers a chance to volunteer for the Obama campaign. Events are also being held at Laurelhurst Theater and Portland State University.
Oregon for Romney/Ryan is hosting a debate party at the Mandarin Palace in Beaverton, located at 9225 SW Allen Blvd, and asks that you "wear your best patriotic pins, hats and ties." The Clark County Republican Party will screen the debate at the Victory Center on Northeast 7th Avenue.
If you would rather watch the debate in "Hecklevision," Northeast Portland's Hollywood Theatre is screening an interactive version of the event.
"From coin toss to closing statement, your texts will appear in real-time on screen as the candidates duke it out," the theater's Justen Harn explained. "You text your heckles, jokes, and commentary from your seat and they appear onscreen below the film."
The debate starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday and is expected to last 90 minutes. Domestic policy will be the main focus.
If you're hosting an event and you'd like us to add it, let us know!
