PORTLAND -- A man's body was spotted floating in the Willamette River near the Hawthorne Bridge Tuesday afternoon and police pulled him from the water.
He was spotted near the Portland Spirit cruise ship just after 2 p.m., according to Lt. Rich Chatman with Portland Fire & Rescue.
"After determining the body was entangled in ropes along the seawall, the investigation shifted from the Sheriff's Office to the Portland Police Bureau," said Sgt. Pete Simpson of Portland police.
Simpson said at this point, the death did not look like a homicide. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
