PORTLAND – Police arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting Friday that closed Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
At 4:41 p.m., police swarmed to Northeast 90th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard after reports a man was firing a gun, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
Police arrested 30-year-old Rome Tavai (pictured right), at Northeast 90th Avenue and Northeast Going street. Inside his vehicle was a short-barreled shotgun and a handgun, Simpson said.
Officers then contacted Tavai's cousin, 26-year-old Fano Lemusu (pictured left), nearby and found another handgun and prescription drugs, Simpson said.
Police learned Tavai fired off several rounds into the air before putting it back in his car. Both men were arrested on several illegal gun charges.
Sandy boulevard was closed from Northeast 90th to Northeast 94th Avenue while police searched for evidence.
