SALEM -- Police were called in after a threat was reported at Salem Hospital Tuesday morning, officials said.
Salem Police officers were on scene just before 8 a.m., working with hospital staff to address the safety of the facility, said Lt. Dave Okada of the Salem Police Department.
"The hospital has not been evacuated, and staff are currently working to finalize operational plans for the facility," Okada said.
People at the main entrance of hospital building A were being directed to the emergency room entrance entrance, said hospital spokesman Mark Glyzewski. He did not know the exact nature of the threat.
Quick update: We are operating pretty much as normal, except you must enter through the emergency room. All other outside doors are locked.— Salem Hospital (@salemhospital) July 8, 2014
