PORTLAND – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a hit-and run suspect who severely injured a man walking his bicycle Friday in Southwest Portland.
Officers located evidence at the scene that was from a Subaru. Additional evidence was collected a few days later that appears to belong to a black 2011 or 2012 Subaru Legacy 25i sedan, which investigators believe was the vehicle in the hit-and-run, said Peter Kurronen with the Portland Police Bureau.
Just before 1 a.m., Henry Schmidt was just coming home from work at a restaurant when he was hit on Barbur Boulevard near Capitol Highway.
Schmidt had several broken bones, a laceration to his spleen, fractures in his spine and really bad road rash and bruises. A bus stopped after seeing Schmidt in the road, and two people got off the bus to help him.
