PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon State Police detectives are investigating diesel-fuel thefts in rural counties and want to speak with victims who have yet to come forward.

Sgt. Tim Brown says the thefts have been happening since May 2012 and the typical targets are heavy equipment, farm equipment and fixed fuel storage containers ranging from 50 to more than 1,000 gallons.

Browns says the targeted areas are in eastern and central Oregon, including Crook, Jefferson, Wheeler, Grant, Morrow, Gilliam, Umatilla, Union, Harney, Malheur, Wallowa, Deschutes, Wasco, Sherman, and Hood River counties.
