PORTLAND -- Portland Police are warning women in a Southeast Portland neighborhood to be on the lookout for a man accused of sexually assaulting a stranger last week.

The victim told detectives the man pushed his way into her home during the day on Wednesday March 20.  Police said the man may have been stalking her and was armed with a knife

Police said the attack happened near Southeast 174th Avenue and Southeast Division Street.

Kim Munden said she's seen the man hanging around her apartment building.  She said the suspect approached her aggressively and gave her a bad feeling.

"He's addressed me twice. Once to ask me about my daughter.  A second time to ask me what I have," Munden said.

"Is that the guy? Oh wow, he looks very familiar," said Kim Stephens who lives in the area and had not heard of the crime until NewsChannel 8 showed her the newly released sketch of the suspect.

"I've been living out here for seven years now and for something like this to happen is very very scary," Stephens said.

Neither woman can be certain the man in the sketch is the man they've seen in the neighborhood but they say he does bear a striking resemblance to the sketch.

Police said on the day of the attack, the man was wearing a black Northface-style jacket with a hood and a dirty white t-shirt.  They said he may work or live in that area.
