PORTLAND – Police were investigating a possible kidnapping in Southeast Portland early Thursday morning.

A kidnapping was reported just after 4 a.m. near Southeast 30th Avenue and Belmont Street. Officers spoke to the caller and began searching for a silver Chevy Impala that was reportedly involved in the incident.

The vehicle was spotted a short time later along Intersate 5 northbound near the Rosa Parks exit. Police closed the freeway temporarily as they stopped the car. Then a man and woman in the vehicle were detained.

The freeway was re-opened a short time later and the vehicle will be towed from the scene, police said.

The investigation continues and police have not yet released any further details on possible arrests.
