PORTLAND -- Two photographers arrived to shoot a Portland house fire about 2:30 a.m. Monday and ended up saving the man inside.
Freelance photographer Chas Briggs told KGW he realized somebody could be in the house, in the 8000 block of Southeast Taylor Street, and started pounding on the doors and windows.
"Finally he did open the door, I asked if he had any animals or if anybody else lived there," Briggs said. "He said, 'No,' and started to go back in, and I’m like, 'No, you don’t want to go back in. You can’t go back in."
The man stayed outside. There was nobody else in the home.
Crews arrived and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Damage estimates were not available.
