GRESHAM, Ore. -- A pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by a car in Gresham Wednesday evening.

Witnesses told police the man was crossing Northeast Liberty Street near East Powell Boulevard when he was hit by an eastbound Honda.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors, police said.

The roadways were closed for a time after the collision.
