PORTLAND -- A man was struck by a car and seriously injured early Tuesday morning in Southeast Portland, police said.

Officers and medical responders were called just after 4 a.m. to Southeast Division Street and 113th Avenue, where they found 41-year-old Michael Jeffrey Meyers suffering from traumatic injuries, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Meyers was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment.

Investigators said 48-year-old Danny Lee Harbick was driving eastbound on Division Street when he struck Meyers, who had stepped off the curb in front of the vehicle, according to Simpson.

Harbick remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Simpson said Harbick was not impaired at the time of the crash.
