PORTLAND – A man was killed when a car he was riding in lost control on Highway 35 near milepost 61 and crashed Sunday afternoon, police said.
The car was heading northbound at 2:30 p.m. near Mt. Hood when it reportedly slid sideways on the icy road, traveling into the southbound lane where it was hit on the passenger side by another vehicle, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.
Drake Edwards, 20, of West Linn was pronounced dead at the scene. He was sitting in the right, rear seat in the Subaru Forrester station wagon. His twin brother was sitting in front of him and was not injured. The driver was not hurt, either.
The two people in the other vehicle also survived the crash without any serious injuries, Hastings said.
