YACHATS, Ore. -- Two men were reported overdue from a fishing trip along the Oregon Coast, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

Both men were from Yachats, Lt. Randy Smith said, and a vehicle belonging to one of them was located Thursday about 8 miles south of town along U.S. Hwy 101.

The fishermen were reported overdue Wednesday night about 10 p.m.

Coastal communities have been hit hard by recent winter storms and Wednesday night's forecast was not much better, with stormy seas and high winds in the area, according to the National Weather Service and KGW First Alert Storm Team.

Little identifying information was released. Smith said one of the men was 64 and the other was 24 years old.

Smith added that Lane County Search and Rescue teams were searching the beaches for any sign of the men and that a Coast Guard helicopter had flown over the area.
