PORTLAND – The Oregonian is hiring new staff members just three days after the newspaper laid off more than 35 employees and announced it would cut back subscription services.

The Oregonian Media Group posted job openings for positions including a general assignment reporter, reporter/music critic, high school sports reporter, photographer/videographer and a soccer sports reporter.

The Oregonian announced Thursday that it would be reducing home delivery to four days a week and making reductions in staff as part of a series of changes at the newspaper and its online counterpart, OregonLive.com.

The reduced subscriptions services will take effect October 1, according to publisher N. Christian Anderson III.
