PORTLAND – The unofficial estimate for Tuesday’s Oregon primaries shows only a 32.8 percent voter turnout, which is the lowest in at least 54 years.

The last time Oregon even came close to that number was during the 1998 primaries, when 34.9 percent of voters showed up to the polls. The highest primary turnout in the last 50 years was 1968, when 72.8 percent of Oregonians voted.

The turnout for the general election in 2012 was 82.8 percent in Oregon.
