OREGON CITY, Ore. -- The former head football coach at Oregon City High School was sentenced Tuesday to five days in jail for stealing a former student's watch.

Kevin Strasser was convicted of second-degree theft, a misdemeanor, and sentenced five days in jail with credit for time served. He will also be on probation for 18 months.

A student called police in August to say a watch he had lost somewhere inside the school was spotted in a Clackamas County pawn shop, according to Sgt. Matthew Paschall of the Oregon City Police Department.

A police officer recovered the watch and identified Strasser as the man who took it to the pawn shop, Paschall said.

Strasser was suspended from the school when he was arrested. He resigned Tuesday after the sentence was handed down.
